Shoe Trends According to Eva Chen, Head of Fashion at Instagram

We first fell in love with Eva Chen on Instagram back in 2014 when she was the Editor-in-Chief at Lucky magazine — she became Insta-famous for her daily Instagram posts of her shoes and accessories, taken in the back of NYC cabs. (In fact, her pose became so iconic, it was even been deemed the "Eva Chen pose" — same pose, different shoes every day.)

Now the director of fashion partnerships at Instagram and a super chic mom, Eva is pretty much the perfect person to give us shoe advice.

So, what are the latest shoe trends you might see pop up in her feed? And how should you wear them? Prepare to be surprised (especially by this first one)!

DAD SNEAKERS

We know, we know, but hear Eva out!

"The key thing with dad sneakers is to not look like a dad when you're wearing them," Eva tells us.

"No corduroy suit, no combover," she jokes.

What you CAN do is rock them with a suit, like Tracee Ellis Ross has, Eva says!

"Bling it up [and] pair it with a red lip," she adds.

You can also pair dad sneakers with a fun, flirty dress, like "Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco did on a red carpet. (YES, a red carpet!)

Moral of the story? Since the shoes are casual, dress up the rest of your outfit!

GLITTER SHOES

"Sarah Jessica Parker is the patron saint of glitter shoes," Eva explains. "[And] the key with glitter shoes is dress it down." (Opposite of the dad sneakers!)

After all, look how relaxed SJP looks running errands:

Eva recommends pairing a pair with blue jeans and a white T-shirt. (Yup, it's that simple!)

"It looks kind of cool and like you don't really care," she says, "and that's what fashion is all about, I think."

WHITE BOOTS

Rach *loves* wearing white boots, so she's already ahead of the trend! And yes, you can wear them after Labor Day.

"That rule was made 50 years ago," Eva says. "You can wear white shoes after Labor Day!"

"Winter white," she continues. "It's a thing."

And Instagram's fashion expert has a foolproof way to work white boots into your everyday style.

"The key to white boots [is to] wear white boots as though they're black classic pumps," she explains. "Any time you're tempted to wear a classic black shoe, throw on a white boot instead, and it instantly makes something fresh and chic and cool."
