I hope so! I'd love to hear your Valentine's Day stories, and if you're looking for a guy's point of view on anything, just give me a shout right here …

Hi Colby...I received a dozen beautiful two-tone yellow/peach roses with a candy heart from my Husband. Yes..they came from the
grocery store but are florist quality complete with baby's breath and fern. I got them a couple of days early as he was afraid they would not have a color close to my favorite orange by the 14th.
Neither the earliness nor the grocery store bother me...he is thoughtful, loving, and caring and that's all that matters.
If you can, please check out the reply I posted on the Valentine
flower topic and my being a former florist. I hope you got something sweet for Valentine's Day also.

Hey Colby, for the first time since we have been together, I got flowers. (Together for 10years; married for eight.) He tried to get me something other than roses, and they did not have other options. I grew up with a rose garden and have a high standard for quality and variety. I got six long stem with card and stuffed animal. They came a day early, and when I came down on Valentines' Day they were there to greet me. He is in the U. S. Navy, and this day is sacred to us; because you never know if there will be a next one.

We usually do something to honor my mother who died three days before Valentines' Day in 1998. And, she had already gotten me red cellophane Russel Stover's heart I had been receiving since I was 3 years-old( I was 28). One year to the day I was engaged to my now husband and planning my wedding.

Thank you for reminding me to just tell him. And, that did the trick. Thanks, Kari

My husband didn't so much as "say" Happy Valentine's day, let alone buy anything or do anything for me. Jerk.

Hi Colby, I wish there was a way I could show you what my husband did for me. We have been married for 35 years, and he hates going to town to shop. Since he retired, he seldom ever goes past the front gate. So my Valetines are very creative and unusual. The day before Valentines, I reminded him that I would like a card and a flower. When I went to work on Valentines day, I reminded him again. He assured me there would be a card and a flower on the table when I got home. And to my surprise, indeed there was. He had sifted flour on the table and made it into a square. There was a big heart and "I love you" printed in the middle. On the bottom, it said "Real Flour Card". After 35 years, this man can still make me laugh. Then, the "piece di resistance" - He showed me a flower arrangement he made and put it all in a crystal vase. He combed 10 acres of our land to try and find any flower. When he gave up, he finaly found one close to the house (I think it is a weed) and used mistletoe and berries to make it look special. It isn't gorgeous and spectacluar like bought flowers would be. This really took a lot of Thought and effort. Some women may have not been happy with my "flowers", but then, he didn't do the easy thing and buy them from the store. Which would have been really easy. He really searched hard. Plus he made me a dinner that was to die for! Rib eye steak, sauteed mushrooms and twice baked potatoes with cheese and bacon! His Heart is in the right place! I wouldn't trade him for the world! If there is a way I could send you the pics of the card and arrangement, please let me know. I would love to share them. It certainly put a smile on my face!

I did say I wanted flowers and not roses, well he dropped that ball and I did not get any flowers BUT he knows I am always cold so he bought me an electric blanket to use in the living room to keep me warm. It is by far the most creative and unexpected Valentines gift he has ever bought for me. I guess I will just go buy my own flowers.
Have a great day

My husband didn't do anything for me either! I told him it was okay, but in all honesty I was upset and a little hurt. He always gets me flowers...they are either waiting for me when I get home from work, or he has them delivered to me at work. This year....NOTHING! He said he refused to pay that much for flowers! I was shocked. He did fix me a very nice dinner of crab cakes (as seen on the Rachael Ray Show) and I was very appreciative. But I did miss the flowers.

My valentine's day this year was without a doubt the most incredible day of my life! I really didn't expect much more than the usual, a nice card and maybe a big Hershey Kiss or a teddy bear. My boyfriend and I have been together almost 4 years and I have to admit...I have a great guy but at the same time I had been feeling a little down because I really really wanted that little box with the ring inside. He got up and got ready for work that morning and I figured there would be a card and chocolate on the kitchen table when I got up for work. He came in to kiss me goodbye like he does every morning but this time he turned the lamp on next to the bed (I'm thinking...dood, I'm trying to sleep here) then he gets up on the bed with me and wakes me up with this little bag from Kay's. Okay Karen, don't get too excited...it's just a necklace or earrings I tell myself. Then I open the box and there it was...the most beautiful diamond ring I've ever laid eyes on...I cried...was speechless...and I'm still in shock! (So much so I forgot to call his mom and she found out from my mom) But that wasn't it. While I was working I had a huge beautiful vase of a dozen red roses delivered to me. He really went all out and he sure fooled me...no one knew. I am without a doubt the luckiest woman on earth...I truly have been blessed.
