cleaning toilet bowls with hard water/well water stains

I would like to know if there is anything simple out there to clean well water stains from toilet bowls. I have tried the can of coke, which takes out many other toilet bowl stains, but it didn't do this ring any justice.

My sister uses "The Works" toilet cleaner.Wear gloves and air out the bathroom afterwards its strong, besure to let it set alittle while. We have hard water and it works wonders, she even puts in her cast iron tub and it eats the water stains off.I would not recommend for plastic without trying a small area. It's better than Lime Away.Good Luck!

I had the worst toilet bowl stand from hard water and used 2 products--Sani Flush crystal bowl cleaner which can be found in most hardware stores and some grocery stores may still stock it and a liquid pumice which I purchased at a janitorial supply store. The liquid pumice did most of the cleaning and then when I applied the Sani Flush crystals it finished the job. I did
try "the Works" but the stain was still there. Take a trip to your local janitorial supply store (if you are lucky to have one)
they have just about everything to get stains out of anything!Good luck

I clean houses for a living and have found that using abrasive products like "Comet" powder works well for hard water stains. It may have to be used several times, but you will see that it will continue to come clean and keep it clean. But, only use it on the inside of the bowl where the water stains are and NOT on the seat or outside of the toilet b/c it will scratch the seat.

If you find that your toilet is stained even after you’ve cleaned it, then you might need to enlist a stronger cleaning agent. If you decide to get rough, be sure to flush the toilet and turn off the water, getting out as much water from the bowl as possible. Having less water in the bowl means less dilution of the cleaning agents.

When you use any cleaner make sure to use an all-plastic scrub brush. Don’t use those toilet brushes with metal wires and plastic bristles poking out of them. The metal can scratch and permanently damage a toilet.

Hope that helps! - Evette
