magic johnson is a medical inspiration! i definitely don't agree with his behavior that led to his diagnosis, but living with chronic pain/medical problems myself, magic johnson is my hero! the fact that he's doing so well is not only amazing, but also the fact that he's doing so much for the HIV +/AIDS community to help people already diagnosed cope and live to the fullest but also share his story so others don't have to go thru the medical problems he does. his wife cookie is also an inspiration- i can honestly say if in her position i don't know if i would have stood by my husband, at least not as his wife.

I, for one, cannot understand how people can be "inspired" by a man who was, by his own admission, filthy, licentious and unfaithful to the mother of his children. And who exposed her to a potentially fatal illness.

I feel nothing but contempt for this man.

That's unfortunate because if you look at the idea that he made a mistake in his life (which in some way or another we are all guilty of) and the fact that he has the resources (both financially and through his celebrity) to make a difference when it comes to this devastating illness you can and should see that things happen for a reason. Because he has been stricken with this so many people will have resources made available to them that otherwise would not have. I think we spend too much time in this country focusing on the negatives when if we just took a moment to see the potential good, we would all be much better off. Obviously his wife thinks so, she chose to be a better person and stay with this remarkable man.
