Quit Smoking...

MandyTentinger
I am a former smoker. I was a pack to a pack and a half a day for about 15 years and then I had my doctor prescribe me Chantix. It worked!! I have been smoke-free for about two and a half months and am so proud of myself. It addresses so many of the addiction problems that come along with smoking. You actually continue smoking when you first start and pick a day in that first week when you're going to quit. It blocks the receptors in your body that receive the nicotine so you get no satisfaction from the cigarette after the first day and it will make you nauseated to smoke at all after that. The cravings go without you even realizing and it has an anti-depressant built in that helps with mood swings... I have nothing but good things to say. You get a prescription for 3 months but I was done after the first month. Good luck to all of you trying to quit... I know how hard it is... but if I can do it, anyone can!

I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY RR DID NOT OFFER TO PAY FOR THE LASER TREATMENT TO THE 2 OTHER HUMAN LAB PARTICIPANTS SINCE IT WAS SO SUCCESSFUL.....IT SEEMS CRUEL TO ME TO TELL THEM TO GO HOME AND KEEP USING THE METHOD THEY VERY CLEARLY STATED DID NOT REALLY WORK FOR THEM....IT MADE RR SEEM VERY DISINGENUOUS ABOUT TRUELY HELPING THESE WOMEN W/THEIR ADDICTION.....RR STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING.....J

WHAT IS UP W/NOT OFFERING THE OTHER 2 HUMAN LAB PARTICIPANTS THE METHOD THAT WORKED SO WELL FOR THE 1? THIS REALLY MAKES RR LOOK VERY DISINGENUOUS ABOUT HELPING THE WOMEN W/ THEIR ADDICTION...STEP UP RR

DIXIE....I AM SO PROUD OF YOU FOR YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT...YOU'VE DONE SOMETHING SO VERY MANY CANNOT/HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO....HANG ON TO THAT...STAY AWAY FROM THE PUFFS ON HUBBYS CIGS...ITS THE KISS OF DEATH....AND YOUR FIRST STEPS TO GETTING HOOKED BACK UP TO THE SMOKING PLAN...I KNOW THE LASER RX IS EXPENSIVE, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE IT DEALS W/THE WEIGHT GAIN AS WELL AS THE SMOKING ISSUE...IT'S $ YOU WOULD HAVE SPENT ON CIGS ANYWAY! MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING OUT....WHEN I QUIT SMOKING THE FIRST TIME(4 8YRS) I GAINED ALSO(SZ4 TO SZ 8) WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE HABIT...I DIDN'T LOSE THE WEIGHT AND I'VE HEARD THIS FROM OTHERS AS WELL....NOW I'M FAT AND SMOKING!SO WHAT DID I ACCOMPLISH HERE? DEAL W/THE WEIGHT ISSUE SEPARATELY..BUT DEAL W/IT....DON'T LET IT WIN TOO....START SMALL...CHANGE THE WAY YOU EAT AND START WALKING MAYBE...I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL BUT YOU REALLY NEED TO REVEL IN THE GLORIOUS SUCCESS OF EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE DONE HERE....J

AND THE DOWN SIDE IS I GAINED 40 POUNDS IM PROUD OF MYSELF FOR QUITING SMOKING BUT I FEEL LIKE A WATER BUFFALO NOW, NONE OF MY CLOTHES FIT ME,SO I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR,THATS NOT WAY TOO TIGHT! I STAY AT HOME ,MY HUSBAND DRIVES A TRUCK SO I JUST WEAR MY SWEATS AND PJ'S MOST OF THE TIME I WENT FROM A SIZE 7 TO A 12 AND OF COURSE EVERY ONE THAT SEES ME HAS TO COMMIT ON MY WEIGHT, WHICH IS A BUMMER!I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE. 'Conga rats' for quitting successfully! I'm on day 3 (half dose) of Chantix and am determined to do what it takes to quit.

Hope you rewarded yourself! :)

My husband and I both quit smoking a year ago in January. He had smoked for 40 years and had only tried to quit one time before, when he said he made it almost 24 hours. He made it 6 1/2 months before dying July 31 at the age of 60. I crave cigarettes so bad on a daily basis. The only reasons I haven't started again are the cost (which is the reason we quit in the first place) and I know how disappointed my mother and son would be. I quit one time before for almost 5 years and the craving never seems to go away for me. Will used gum for a while and I used lozenges. However, both of these are more expensive than smoking if you use them as directed. Will started chewing regular gum and I started buying cinnamon candies, which Will also ended up using as well. Soon after Will died (please don't call me a widow, by the way; I'm still very much married to him!), someone told me that if I started again, he'd be mad at me. I know better! I get some comfort in thinking that maybe now he doesn't have these awful cravings anymore.

I was a 37 year smoker. The past year I averaged about 1/2 pack per day. "Chantix" the greatest product on the face of this earth!!!!Starter pak 30 day supply pills, take one first 3 days, then 2; one in the am one in the pm. Keep smoking I was told and one day you will just not. After 5 days I quit!! No withdrawl, no grumpy, no nervouse breakdown or break-apart. Whichever you prefer. Out of the side effects; livid dreams constipation and or gas, and not sleeping well...I only got gas. I haven't craved scammed and maybe 5 times thought about the "cigarette". February 25, 2008 was my last puff!! I feel great. All for less than $150.
Just wanted everybody to know.

My Dad who is about to turn 74 & smoked 2+ packs a day said he enjoyed it & had no intention to stop - has been stopped for 1 year now! This is amazing. I truly believe one of the grandbabies saying "Papa - you stink!" really opened his eyes! He has always been healthy & never went to a doctor until he fell off the roof after Hurricane Ivan. I work in healthcare & took this opportunity to introduce him to a physician he now really respects. She did not hound him about quitting, but got her chance when he ask her after the "stinking" comment & she offered him Chantix. This works over a short amount of time, so it's not cold turkey! He stopped within 5-6 weeks. On occassion I would see him pat his shirt pocket(habit)like you spoke about, but that has now subsided.I am so proud of him & I hope others will have the success he has had! Just had to share!Jimmie in Milton, FL
