The truth about cats and dogs... or was it?

I was really upset about part of this segment today. When dealing with the kitty "Potatoes" there may have been a BIG mistake made. As a veterinary professional, I'm here to say that when a cat begins to experience "improper elimination" (aka going outside their litter box) it is almost always the first symptom of an illness. Typically a kitty is experiencing some type of pain with elimination, and they then associate that pain with being in the litter box; therefore, they go to the bathroom in alternate areas. Usually the root of the problem is something like urinary tract infection, kidney/bladder stones, or urinary crystals. So... after all that blah blah blah... lol, I guess my point is... I think it would have been wiser if the producers/Rachel would have had a veterinary professional on hand, not to refute what the psychic was saying, but to offer other more ordinary reasons behind these pet problems. That way the owner (on set or the owner of a pet with similar symptoms watching from home) isn't accidentally ignoring important symptoms that could lead to serious problems. Better safe than sorry when the pet you love so much might need a trip to the Vet right?

I absolutely agree one hundred percent with this. I also work in the veterinary field and the first thing we tell people who have cats with litterbox issues is to rule out the possibilty of a medical problem before going with the behavioral aspect. I agree that there should of been someone from the veterinary profession available to comment.

Did anyone notice how uncomfortable Rachael seemed with that woman? I think she scared her...never seen that quite/calm/non talkative Rachael before. I would have been scared as well though. What a mess that segment was. Please don't bring that woman back!! Bring a vet or Cesar Milan or other trained professional to talk about pet problems/issues, that would be much better.
