Camping

Camping is a great way to go unplugged for a few days at a time. My family have been 2 times last month and we are going again this month. The nature and "nothing to do" makes the kids and you come up with the things to do. We always take our fishing poles, and depending on the weather we take the canoe and kayaks. The walking in the woods and making up storys for the kids while your walking or sitting around the fire is a great way to get the kids to really talk to you.

Every one needs to try camping.

I'm sorry, I had a little posting problem. I think it would be fun to have a camp out inside when the weather is bad.
Never say "I can't." Say "I'll try"

My husband and our two dogs go camping all the time , we love it. When we retire we are going to see the world in our camping trailer. Can't wait , we meet the most interesting people. My grandkids love to go with us they get to meet new people and make lasting friendships, through e-mail. We just love Camping.

I would love to start camping with my family! As a total newbie--what would we need to get us started? My daughter is 2 1/2 so she may be too young but I would love to start taking camping trips with her in the future. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

My wife, daughter and myself love to camp. We have a small tent trailer (trailertrash). We try to camp at least one weekend a month. Our retirement plan is to camp all over the US and volunteer at all the different MS Society functions.
Good Afternoon Rachael
My Family has just recientaly visited Italy. Great trip. One of the afternoons was at the Sorrento Cooking School.

Since my new husband is experience camper, we started camping over a year now. I've seen people with kids of all ages and none of them seem to be having a bad time. I've even seen some people with play pens set up in front of there campers for the littles ones. There are lots of websites out there that will give you a basic list of what you need to take and how much for your length of stay. If your going in tents I've found it's really easy to keep all the stuff in the huge rubber maid boxes for easy storage and packing. Also if your using a truck to travel it keeps all your stuff dry. KOA has some really nice sites to start with also they have cabins you can try first for beginners. They also have a basic list of stuff you may need for camping for the newbies. Hope every one tries it at least once.

My husband and I camped as kids and tried it this past summer with our 3 kids as an affordable vacation. Our kids ages are 15 yr old girl, 13 yr old boy and a 3 yr old boy. That is why I/we decided to go camping to try and find a place that would have somehting for everyone. It did and went well we are planning to go again. We don't have a car or trailer but, we rented a van and went to a campground in Maine and rented a trialer at a campground. It was 38ft, with a slideout a deck and canopy. They had field activities for older kids throughout the day like kickball, whiffle ball, soccer, etc. They had free movies twice a week for kids at night in rec hall, they had a teen dance on Sat nights. Plus there was a pool and a lake and a brook. Swimming, boats, fishing and disc golf (a fun sport for the whole family). Lots of kids around and there was always something to do. My little guy loved just being out in woods and walking picking up sticks for camp fire and just exploring. They all enjoyed the campfires at night. It was the best vacation and cheapest to that we have ever taken and we all enjoyed it. Renting was a great option adn the rates are very affordable. We brought a small gas grill and only ate out once. I would recommend if renting ask for pictures of trailer and how old it is and what is in there and ask if everything is working. I read some horror stories of such online before I reserved and was very valuable in deciding where to go.

The only thing you ever really need to go camping is firewood. I like to have a tent and sleeping bags since we spend a lot of time in the mountains. Many outdoor stores have people that can help you to figure out exactly what you'll need. Can we come up with a new name for "camping" in a trailer. It's simply not the same experience as camping on the ground or hiking to a remote spot and setting up a tent. Maybe we could call it vacationing instead or taking the home on wheels out for a spin. Let's not fool ourselves any longer into thinking this is camping.

I agree camping is about learning how to set-up a tent, cooking over a firepit, and how to build a latrine. Trailer camping is like going to the Marriott Hotel. Camping is about the great outdoors. Leaving behind the conveniences of home is what camping is all about. I have taught kids how to camp and it's a lot of fun. Camping is for all ages. Have anyone gone rain camping before? I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and we have rain here a lot and rain camping is something that's unique in our area.
