Every year our school has a turn off the Tv week. I did this with my kids and then realized exactly how much we were watching. So now we set limits. It really keeps them active. We limit Tv to am only before school and a few shows on weekend nights. TV before bed makes kids restless. We kick em' outside every time the weather allows. They are closer to each other since they must entertain each other and don't get lost in Tv land. They do get some computer time but we limit that as well and gasp we don't have a gaming system in our house. And all the family has been told they are not allowed to be purchased or they will be returned. The benefits are we are a closer family and play together often. I do get all the ins and outs of the day not just nothing or school was fine. You give my kids a board game and they jump up and down current faves are Twister and Chutes and ladders. I know sometimes when your stressed or need to get something done its a great thing but its much more of treat if they don't get it plus they are more likely to snuggle up and watch. Also makes it so much easier to monitor what they watch. In our home Tv is only watched on the 1 set in the living room and we choose shows by majority. Its a great thing do de-electrify your kids you see a different personality appear. I recommend it!
