The title "Former President" versus "Current President"

Although I'm not affiliated with any particular political party, I feel it is belittling to our current President to be 'upstaged' by former presidents ... Do we refer to Geroge W. Bush as Current President??? So why do folks refer to MR. CLINTON as President when his reign is over??? I have heard several talk show hosts call him MR. yet Rachel calls him President ....

Am I a lone doggy here or does anyone else agree?

By the way ... I enjoyed seeing and hearing from Carly Simon ... Although it was qiute evident that Rachel's 'musician?' husband had NO LOVE for her accomplishments or her music .. He had no expression at all while she was on the stage ..." Infact, it looked like he had to 'strain' just to clap his hands after the music was done ... He also didn't even 'move' when they show him nd Rachel during Carly's set ... What's up with that???

It is correct protocol to call a former President "Mr. President."

This goes for any government official ... a Senator, Governor, Judge, Commissioner, etc.

Rachael would have been rude not to call him President.

I am actually surprised she knew enough to do so.

Unfortunately, I think this is intentional.

As a "former" New Yorker, who saw not only the sunshine but the "light" when I moved to Arizona, you are programmed to believe in everything that spews out of peoples mouth as long as they are Democrat.

I have also noticed that lately the show has taken several political turns.

I had hoped one show on TV could stay away from all this chaos!

It is a very good thing you are confined to Arizona.

I, too, think it would be quite rude to not refer to Bill Clinton as president. Not only does it apply to political people but to pageaentry as well. Just because the term or run is over doesn't mean that the title just goes away. Bill Clinton and the many other presidents will always be and should be referred to as President.
