Replace the habit ...

Guylaine_G
Is this less about the liquid, and more about needing to "suck" to get her back to sleep? Would a pacifier be a better (and transitional) alternative to the bottle? She gets the comfort she may be looking for, and bye bye bottles. During the day, and before bed - a sippy cup should be the only option for her. With the pacifier, she should learn to sleep through the night, because she will be able to find the pacifier near her (we had 3 pacifiers in bed with each of my sons, so they were never far away) and soothe herself back to sleep. Once she is sleeping through the night, you teach her to sleep in her own room. And then, you can wean her off the pacifier (cold turkey). This whole process will likely take you a year or so - you do not want to traumatize the poor child! She is absolutely adorable! PS - We only permitted the pacifier during sleep.

Leah - Love your work and your honesty. If only all moms could be so honest with each other!
