Hysterectomy recovery

dking4767
I just had a total hysterectomy on Monday 6/2. I am at home doing
the recovery thing - Watching the show helps alot. I would like to know what foods you recommend to help with my recovery?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I also had a radical hysterectomy; I know how difficult the recovery is. Hang in there...you will get better. My experience with food during my recovery, about 5 years ago, was that lighter foods (non-greasy) were better overall. With time, my pallette became increasingly tolerable to richer foods. Just ease into eating...it will come naturally. I wish you a speedy recovery!

If there is a Curves in your area, try it. It is geared for women and not hard. There are results. It also gives back energy and inches go away.

I also had a hysterectomy 2 years ago. Before I had mine,I had been a long time heavy smoker,I quit for my health and surgery.I am much healthier now and feel better except for the 40 lbs I put on.I can't seem to loose it.My knees and legs hurt most of time, which makes it hard to excercise.I work on hard floors and my job is very physical.I find it hard to motivate myself after a long day. Also I am 51 years old, which isn't old but it does make it much harder to loose weight. Can anyone help me.I need to loose the weight I put on??

I too have had a hysterectomy and in order to stay off hormone therapy I watched my diet. Limited sugar, caffiene and to keep the hot flashes away I stayed away from dairy. I recommend taking a multivitamin with herbs and minerals such as estroven. After six months I was able to reintroduce dairy and all the other restricted foods into my diet and every thing has been fine. I had my hysterectomy five years ago and it has been great. After I was off the restrictive diet I did gain weight. The good news is I joined weight watchers and lost most of it. The good thing about being on a weight loss program after a hysterectomy or menopause is you don't have the weight fluctuations you do when you are menstruating. Good Luck!

I also had a total hysterectomy in April and found that I had to stay away from fried foods until just recently. I also am not wanting to take estrogen therapy, so I stay away from alcohol and take estroven at night to help me sleep and not have so many hot flashes. I also take Oscal because I don't get enough calcium by having dairy during the day. It's only been 3 months since my surgery, but I'm feeling much better than I was at first. Best way to get better is to walk, walk, walk! It helps with the weight gain and helps get your strength back quicker!

I HAD ONE A YEAR AGO BUT I HAVE VERY HIGH TOLERENCE FOR PAIN SO I WAS CLEANING AND WALKING IN JUST 2 DAYS. I DO RECOMMEND THAT U WEAR A SUPPORT BELT MOSTLY SOLD IN DEPARTMENT STORES IN THE FITNESS SECTION. IT HELPS WITH PRESSURE AND ALSO KEEPS YOUR TUMMY TUCKED IN. SECOND, I TOOK ANTI GAS MEDICINE B/C YOU WILL FEEL MORE PAIN WHEN U R BLOATED. THIRD, EAT HIGH FIBER FOODS TO HELP U GO TO THE BATHROOM ALOT EASIER. LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE WAITED DOWN, IF YOU CAN WALK THEN DO SO AS LONG AS U FEEL COMFORTABLE THE MORE U GET BACK ON YOUR FEET THE FASTER YOU WILL RECOVER!!!!!
