My Hair

RRFan001
Hi Gretta! my name is Sarah, I am 14 years old and I have really straight hair. In some ways it is good, but it always looks the same and gets rather boring. do you have any advise for me to get a little bit of wave in my hair, but at the same time I would like it to look age appropriate. I don't want to look like I am older than I really am.

Sarah!
The right cut paired with the right products and techniques will give you more options. First, work with your stylist to create a lightly layered look that will give you a bit of volume and style regardless of whether you wear it straight or wavy. Second, invest in a product like Bumble and bumble Surf Spray or Sally Hershberger’s Supreme Head Shagg Spray available exclusively at Walgreen’s to help create more texture. Visit www.sallyhershberger.com to view her instructional video about how to use this product to create a messy, wavy look. You might also want to try using a ceramic styling iron such as GHD 1” available at www.sephora.com to form waves or curls. If you bend the iron back and forth while pulling it through small to medium sections of your hair you get the wavy look. If you’d like to create curls wrap small to medium sections of your locks spiraling down the barrel of the iron. Once the hair has cooled you can pull the waves or curls apart for a tousled look. Any of these options will be perfectly age appropriate and will give you extra style to get you through those boring hair days!

You can also try washing your hair every other day, the natural oils from your scalp can hold the curl a little better and create more of a , "piecey" look! Dove makes a great product called, "precision volume lift & hold aerosol hairspray" which will also give you a lift without weighing your fine hair down! xo, Gretta**
