I agree with the many comments regarding the “need” for external forces to change a boyish appearance for females; whether by stylists, celebrities or friends.
Regardless of Crystal’s reasons, a show like this perpetuates the misconstrued acceptance of polar gender identities. It negates the myriad of human beings that fit between the “standards”. By perpetuating this idea, the progressive recognition of all forms of human beings is stunted. Those that refuse free thought continue this misconception that to be female one must be in soft, flowy dresses; messages that females are inundated with constantly.
Sexual identity is not always translated by external appearances, as it should not be. There is more relevance that as a female identified person, one should have the complete freedom to be as she fits.
Gender identity and sexual identity are present day issues that need to be recognized; not only by those that are in a position of influence but by everyone.
