I am a 55-yr. old woman who had a hysterectomy last year which resulted in a severe nerve injury in the right sciatic nerve. The best estimate for healing of the nerve was 1 1/2 to 2 years, and I am 14 mo. into that healing process. But my ability to walk is severely handicapped, and it is hard to find a way to do cardio exercise.
Combined with the above, I have retained (and gained) belly fat ever since having my 9 and 10 lb. babies twenty+ years ago. Even at my lowest post-baby weight (128 lb.), it looked like I was carrying a bowling ball of fat on my belly. It has me concerned because nothing seems to help, and rather than losing weight, I am gaining more and more belly fat. I also am on thyroid medication.
Is there any diet you can recommend specifically targeting belly fat? And do you have any recommendations for limited, but effective exercise? I am 5'6" and weigh 202 lb. (small frame, have only hit the 200 lb.+ range in the last 2-3 years). Any advice would be welcome! I am seriously concerned about health implications at this point (although I would love to lose the weight and fit into my clothes again, too!). Thank you for your help.
