well i had this problem and well it takes 7 days if you can hack it....my child is 14 months and I had giving up and let her in my bed and then i had a class and they told me to keep taking out of my bed and put her in her bed....and it actually worked....

It seems that Leaha finally came to her senses. Her Mom gave her the best advise. Basically, you need to talk with your kids, give them a goal and then follow through with the reward.
I know, I know... it doesn't always work that way in real life...but you have to start somewhere, and it seems to me that starting with comment sense and a little help from Mom and you will come out on top every time.

roxyrae, fla

never say never, i said my children would never slep in my bed untill i had my 2nd child. she refused to sleep during the night the only way i could get her to sleep was to let her sleep on my bellie on the couch ( i knew it was a big no no, but i had to be up and ready to go with my 4yr old) finally when she was 4m i broke down to my dr. he said let her cry. the 1st night was awfull, she cried i cried but she sleeps in her bed.

This is the same story as the bottle. Why has the 3 year old been in their bed this long to start with? My God, who is in charge in this family? Certainly not the parents. It's a scarey thing to realize a 3 year old the head of the family.

Gmandm, in the US everyone is entitled to their own cultural differences. Ethnocentricity is a horrible trait.

What does ethnocentricity have to do with who is the parent in a family? Welcoming a child into your bed when they wake up a half hour earlier than you want to get up or when they are sick or scared is one thing but I really think they should have their own bed and go to sleep in it. Otherwise you end up having this struggle of "getting kids out of your bed" when they are too old. Making bedtime a sweet time with a peaceful routine they look forward to is important. It's also important for the child to know that going to sleep in his/her own bed is what is expected.
