Halo Breast Screening Mechanism

Hi, I am only 24 and have previously had two breast surgeries removing a small cluster of cysts. The biopsy showed cells that could be potentially cancerous in the future. My doctor will still not give me approval to have yearly mammograms, Im guessing this decision is based on my age and because I have not had any further problems. I feel that I quaify for better screening and I hate living with the fear that something could be going on that the eye can't see and the doc doesnt want to do anything about it.

After watching todays episode, I could not believe 'The Doctors' were promoting the 'Halo', which is a new breast screening for younger aged women. I immediately called my doctor, but they do not have this new technology, which means it will not be a part of your yearly OBGYN checkup...I was disappointed to hear this news.

Does anyone know where I could get this screening done or any advice on what to do? Thx

Looks like they've got a doctor finder which should help you out.

Hope everything works out for you.

They HAVE to start taking this issue seriously ASAP!!! I am 35 and just finished treatment for breast cancer a few months ago. Breast cancer can strike at ANY age. Look at http://www.youngsurvival.org or the YSC and you will see SO many women under the age of 40 battling (and beating) this disease. I have seen girls as young as 17 on this site (and in practice). Any doctor who says you are too young should not be in medicine.
Ladies, take care of the "girls". You don't have to have a family history of it as 80% of women who get BC have no history. If you have any suspicion for it, fight for it! I left it too late and was advanced.
I hope that MORE early screening for younger women will finally end this!!

Hi, I am 33. My mom was a 2 time breast cancer survivor and I was told I should start being checked 10yrs earlier than my mom was first diagnosed. So I started getting checked at 30. Thank God I did, b/c they found several masses. I get checked regularly. I can not wait to try the halo. It is coming to where I live soon and I am so excited. When I lived in MA it had arrived shortly after I left and now I am TN. I am just so thankful that we have technology today that gives us a fighting chance.
