frost in my frost free fridge

Deerlady
My freezer in my frost free fridge wrecks anything I put in it. Even the ice cube tray has frost on it. I have a ice pack in there and it has over a inch of frost on it.
Ok I know my fridge is 23 years old and I will get a new one someday when it finally totally breaks down. But is the frost because it's turned up too high?
It also leaks water down into the fridge along the back.
I been looking at new fridges and the LG 3 door looks nice. But like I told my husband, it's going to take some getting used to the new ones are so different inside. I keep forgetting to measure my space are all fridges the same width? Well we just got our house sided this year and new roof so the kitchen may be next when we can save up some moola. Our son is graduating college this term so big big saving there no more college moola going out.
Ok guess I have rattled on enough
I do want to wish Rachael, and the staff, and all the buddies and all the peeps reading this a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Thank You

It might be old but a goodie. Empty it, unplug it, let it reach room temp. Fill 2 cereal bowls with unscented catlitter.

Put 1 in the freezer, 1 in the fridge.

Your problem is cycle time and internal humidity, Easy fix And the litter will pull all smell out of the fridge better than baking soda, in less time!

I had that problem when I put it to high. Also make sure that the vents are not blocked by food. Plastic bags tent to expand in the freezer, make sure to let the air out. My fridge is only 3 years old and t's the worsed appliance I ever bought. The vents go downward not sideways, so I can only fill up half way.I will never take it for granted buying something at Sears will insure quality.Did I learn my lesson !!!!!

After 23 years I think it's just time for a new one. The last time I vacumed the coils out was last Christmas. Scared me so bad I haven't did it sense. It rumbled and grumbled and I thought I had killed it when I plugged it back in. Then it started running again, whew. I have always tried to vacume the coils out at least 2-3 times a year. The old fridge has done me well for 23 years tho after the first of the year and holidays are over I think I may need to replace it.
Thank You all for your suggestions
Happy Holidays

One of the first things to go is often the seal around the door. Check and make sure that there are no cracks in the seal. This will let in moisture and make any frost free appliance no longer frost free! Duct tape is still the easiest fix for this!

Ah well when my dryer broke down I asked the repairman about my fridge and he also said it was the seal.
But guess what folks, YES I finally did it we went today and purchased a new fridge. We got our 24 years out of that old one, and we really need to update our kitchen. At least a new fridge is the first step maybe we will get the rest in the next 24 years ha ha.
It only took 8 trips to the store who knew how hard it was to buy a new fridge. Our space was only so big, and we did not want a water dispenser or ice maker because our well water is so hard.
We have a house filter but we change it every month and at the price of the fridge filters no way did we want to replace that even every 2 months. We ended up with a ice maker but we can turn it off so it don't run. Also we wanted something more modern so we got a french door with freezer on the bottom. Another factor was I wanted adjustable shelving and I did not want wire baskets in the freezer I wanted a drawer with a bottom.
It gets delivered next month the day before our 26th anniversary.
Seems it was a popular fridge and is back-ordered, so you would think that manufactures would take note that everyone does not want a water/ice dispenser but people do want to modernize.
Anyway just thought I let everyone know how my fridge delima turned out. Now for the rest of my tired old kitchen someday :)
oh it's a LG
