Where was the step father, the family, and child protective services?

This woman is amazing and I wish her and all of her siblings the best! I hope she can use some of that money to go back to school and get a career.
My question is how does the Child Protective Services allow a 14 year old to take care of her siblings? Where was the step father or real father? Where were these other family members (aunts, grandma, etc) during the last 4 years??
Why does it seem like the mom is being let off the hook. I would expect something more but maybe I'm not seeing the entire picture.

Does anyone remember the name of that lady's web site? I suppose she writes childrens books lol..

My stepdad is still around for the family and always has been. I took on a lot of the responsibility when he was working or out of town for work.

I've only recently been in touch with extended family, most of the time when my mother was gone we were out of touch because she took the address book with her and phone numbers were changed,we also lived in FL while all my family is in PA.

My mom writes romance novels but took her sites down since

Alex you are amazing.
My biological Mother left my Father and I when I was 3 months old and the Step Mother who raised me while she was married to my father from the age of three to about twenty six hasn't wanted anyhting to do with me or my family since she divorced my Father.I am 41 now and the abandonment of these two women still hurts. Do you have any plans of going back to school?

Alex, I admire your strength, I wish you and your family the most joyous of holidays, Iam 45 years old, and was never blessed with the children I always wanted, last year I had to have a hysterictomy, so I'll never be blessed in that way, however, I do not understand how or why any Mother would do this to her children. It brakes my heart. You are a Rock, to your brothers and sisters Bless your heart and remember they need you to take care of yourself to take care of them. Be good to yourself. spend alittle of that money on YOURSELF. go back to school, a day at the spa, (Massage is wonderfully relaxing!)something that is just for you. then take care of those wonderful brothers and sisters and stepdad too. but remember to put some away for those hard times to come. bless you D'Andra

You are such an inspiration. Your story of courage, dediction and responsibibity touched my heart. God Bless you! I urge you to do something for yourself with the money.
