Poll: Drunk man hit by train wins $2 million - is this "Going Too Far?"

ClubRRLiz
After a night of drinking in New York City, a man fell on to the subway tracks and an oncoming train took off part of his leg. A jury awarded him $2.3 million - is this going too far?

How in the world did they allow this. Now the man will go get drunk again and jump in front of a moving vehicle and maybe, just maybe try again? hello, what the world was the judge on? Jim Beam? lol

We have really gone this far in america. Notice it was a jury trial. I am sorry but unless there was something along the lines of defective safety equipment this man should be paying the city for the mess and problems he caused by being a stupid drunk.

There comes a point when our society needs to speak out and up for what my dad used to say was 'common sense.' There are very few people these days that know what it is to take responsibility for their actions...yes, even if they are stupid and result in losing a limb!!!! Where does it stop? Intoxication in public is against the law. If something happens as a result, then it is ultimately that persons responsibility! I know a few alcoholics and I would tell them the same thing. lol if you asked one of them, they would prob tell you it was their own darn fault! I think our society is way past ridiculous with all of this 'regulation' and interference. We were sue happy before, I agree that it sets a bad precedence!

This has really taken the cake in America now you can get drunk and have a leg missing and all and get rewarded for that.
I can see why now why I ended up totally disabled from a 16 year old hitting me head on and he only had his license 3 months and he laughed it off and I ended up with being hospitalized for over a year and still to this day have to live with all the pain and discomfort and I ended up with hardly nothing from it as my insurance used all it had with all my injuries and still had to file bankruptcy after as I didn't have the money to pay the rest of my medical bills and all from it and it has changed my families lives for ever whereas I didn't even get to enjoy being able to do the things with my son that was a infant at the time like I did with his sisters before the accident.

My wife had to return to work with having 3 children and I became the one home after and she did't get to enjoy all the things she should of while they were growing up.

Then a few years after my wife and I were in another serious car accident from a New Dodge Van as I needed it for my wheel chair and all and had been into the Dealer and Garage several times before the accident to tell them there were weird noises in rearend and I was told everything was OK. Then all of a sudden we hear the same noise getting on Highway and we flipped over 5 times and the axle was split in half and my wife went to get a attorney after and was told we would have no problem to go after Dodge and the Dealership.

Six months later after her getting lawyer and I am stil dealing with rehab and all the lawyer comes back and tells us well there is nothing they can really do as they don't know if axle broke before accident or after so u know who got paid for this one and again we are the losers in this .

Here my wife and I had dreams that we hoped someday to own a home and be able to get out of a mobil home that is fallling apart as I can't do repairs or afford repairs or even to get a home that would of been decent to raise a family in.

There is sure something wrong with the judicial system in AMERICA. It sure isn't for the inocent it is for the Drunks, Drugies and Killers and people like Madoff.

We need to take a step back and stop penalizing the innocent all the time. My wifes life dream was one day to have a home and that will never happen on her salary or my disablity. But this is America for you.
