In an effort to keep costs down and ticket prices lower, a European airline may charge passengers to use the restroom by way of a coin slot on the bathroom door. Is this going too far?

How about the airlines just plan now for paying extra for cleaning services? Seriously, you can't charge ppl for natural body functions. In these days of plastic, WHO carries coins around a lot? I guess they'll need to distribute an allotted amount of "pee-pennies" with your ticket, then you will be responsible for monitoring your fluid intake and timing. Gents, be sure to get your prostate exams prior to flying overseas and research Avadart. Ladies, practice you Kegals now...it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

THE WORLD (LIKE THE AIRLINES) IS GOING CRAZY. SOMETHING NATURAL AND WE HAVE TO PAY?? SORRY! THE AIRLINES ARE THEIR WORST ENEMIES. THEY HAD GREAT TRAVEL AGENTS YEARS AGO, AND WHAT DID THEY DO THEN. VERTICAL INTEGRATION AND PUT SOOOOOOOO MANY MOM AND POP AGENCIES OUT OF BUSINESS FOR THEIR SO-CALLED "BOTTOM LINE"
TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT THEY LOST FREE ADVERTISING BY LOSING THEIR BEST ADS VIA TRAVEL AGENT EXPERTISE. SO GO AHEAD.. CHARGE FOR ?? AND SEE WHICH AIRLINES STAY OR GO OUT OF BUSINESS. WE WILL TRAVEL BY TRAIN OR BUS OR VIA CAR. SO BE IT!@ ENOUGH WILD MANIA!!

That was tried in So CA in the 40s. Any place that had a long line of stalls to accomodate many people. Didn't accomplish what they wanted. Kids just crawled underneath the door. After paying to use the facility many people felt they didn't need to try and keep it clean, and some would actually trash a stall before they left it. Also, the person leaving would hold the door for the person entering so nobody had to pay for a while. A very bad idea.

It would be different if they could use another washroom, but they have no where else to go. Expecialy with children. They don't alway go when they say they have to. I think that is taking advantage of people in a time of need

I well remember the 'ole days when I had to put a dime into a box to unlock the door to the restroom in a restaurant. I had a quater and the employee was to busy (with the cute guy at the counter) to give me change. I ran out, jumped in my car to race to another "public" facility, but didn't make it. Slammed on my car brakes (falling against the horn on the steering wheel as I did), jumped out, and (while many guests at a hotel came running to see why brakes screeched and horn blew) I relieved myself through my clothing and into the street as people watched. I have heard the urge is sometimes quite immediate as we age...wonder if I'd have time to grab my change purse on the way to the restroom in an airplane?

I heard about this. It was just a publicity stunt to get more advertising, and it worked!! For free. Everyone was talking about this topic and then later the airline manager released a statement saying this wasn't true just a funny publicity stunt.
