Totally Stylin’ Tattoos Barbie

ClubRRCindi
Mattel has released Totally Stylin’ Tattoos Barbie, which comes with tiny tattoos stickers that can be placed on the doll, a fake tattoo gun and wash-off tattoos that kids can put on themselves. Is this going too far?

Should body piercing Barbie be next?

I'm with the commenter who doesn't understand the difference between this and letting them play with fake tattoos.

As a mom with multiple tattoos, I don't let my children play with fake tattoos because I think they give the false impression that real tattoos will be something they can play with and remove. I think the Barbie is hilarious, not that I would buy one for my kids, but maybe one for myself:)

I think there's nothing wrong with it at all. It represents a section of our population that is being ignored in many mainline toys. Tattoos are much more mainstream nowadays.

That said, I respect your position poppermomma. However do I have a question, don't you think your kids would be able to tell the difference before they are old enough to get tattoos? What I mean is their friends WILL play with fake ones and they can get ones painted on at various exhibitions. They will probably get them at school events and the like. I know my kids do. But I also make sure to explain the difference between fakes and the real thing. Why not have them put one on and have them scrub it off and then have them try to scrub one of yours off? I'm fairly confident that they'll be able to reconcile the difference. But, then again, maybe I'm just way off base.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Tattoos can be very beautiful art work and ones respresentation of themselves and their personality. Who's to say that a child, whom already has the access to fake tattoos in vending machines everywhere, can't put it on a barbie.. People it's not going to far!! In my opinion it is creativity at it's best!! I say thank you Mattel for not discriminating against people that love art and creativity.

In today society we see more and more people with tattoos all over, I think its so harmless when its a doll and if your the parent you just have to use parental judgment on this,
