cutting onions

Burn a candle near where you are cutting the onion. The candle will burn the gases. It works for me.

Another great tip when cutting onions is to put your cutting board by your sink. Turn your cold water on, it doesn't matter if your turn it on fast or slow. It works great!!!! I've used that idea for years and passed it on to alot of people and it works for them too.

I can't wait to try those tips. My eyes are so sensitive to onions. It is like turning on the faucet. :)

Do you use a scented candle or a regular one? I have a ton of pine ones leftover from last year. Do you think that would work?

I think the pine-scented candles will work, even if they are from last year. But if they have lost a lot of their scent, like if you put them in your bathroom to give off a pine fragrance, you can try spraying the air in your kitchen with a pine room freshener to give your candles a boost. Keep your mouth open, too! ;-)

I put my onions in the fridge in a 2 plastic containers that I got from Tupperware. When I empty one, I put in another onion and put it behind the 2nd one. You know the first in first out type thing.
