Friendship or Relationship???

Hi Colby

There's this guy whom I haven't seen in five years that I went to high school with who told me a month ago that he has always liked me and wanted to date me. We have been friends since middle school and I have never looked at him as being more than a friend, so now I don't know what to do. I told him one night that I would date him but the next day I changed my mind and he got upset. The thing is, he was in an abusive relationship for three years, until one day his girlfriend starts beating on him and he snaps and hits her back, so he is now in jail for 60 days because he couldn't pay the fine. He wants me to wait for him so we can see how things would work out between us but I'm not to sure about it. I need some help!!
