ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to enter and win, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must be at least eighteen (18) years old (or the age of majority in your state of residence, whichever is older) and a U.S. citizen with a primary residence in one of the fifty (50) United States or Washington, D.C.
    • You must not be a published cookbook author, i.e., you must not have had a cookbook previously published (or in the process of being published) by an established publishing house, or self-published online or through a third party self-publishing company. (You are still eligible if you have only contributed to a cookbook anthology or had recipes published in a magazine.)
    • You must not have attended culinary school for more than 12 months, either consecutively or cumulatively.
    • You must be the sole author of your submitted recipes and ideas (you cannot enter as a co-author) and all of your recipes and ideas must be your original creations.
    • You must not be an employee, officer or director (or the spouse, parent, child or sibling of, or live in the same household as, such employee, officer and director) of CBS Studios, Inc., KWP Studios Inc. ("Sponsor"), the Series, Watch Entertainment, Inc., Scripps Networks, Inc., Harpo Productions, Inc., GE Appliances, Meredith Corporation, Meyer Corporation, U.S., F.C. USA Inc., d/b/a Liberty Travel, Simon & Schuster, Inc., Rachael Ray Books – The Atria Publishing Group ("Publisher"), any other Rachael Ray related business, organization or television program, and any of the foregoing entities' respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, or advertising and/or promotion agencies (all entities in the foregoing list, collectively the "Contest Entities").
    • You must be available to travel to New York City at various times during the period April 6, 2014 – May 9, 2014 if selected as a Finalist in order to compete in the final Studio Challenge rounds as set forth below. (Basic expenses of trip shall be paid for by Sponsor.)
    • You must not have a record or prior history of criminal arrest or conviction (misdemeanor traffic violations excluded).

HOW TO ENTER: For an opportunity to win one of the above prize packages (the "Prize(s)"), go to and click on the "The Great American Cookbook Competition" button where you will find the Official Rules. By clicking the link at the bottom of the Official Rules, you will be taken to a custom page on ( (You will need to create an account by providing your name/email and selecting a password.) You must complete the entry form by uploading all of the required entry submission information set forth below, agree to these Rules, and click on the "Submit/Enter" button before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday January 14, 2014. Limit one entry per person.

Required Entry Submission Information:

     • Contact Information (Name/Address/Phone Number/Email Address)
     • Essay – Tell us about yourself, your cooking philosophy and how your can-do, problem-solving attitude is reflected in your recipes and/or cooking style (in 250 words or less).
     • Book Concept – Describe what your cookbook will be about and include your suggested book title, if any (in 150 words or less).
     • Recipes – Provide three (3) full original recipes that best showcase your book concept.
     • Video – Upload a video (no longer than 3 minutes) featuring you and one of your submitted recipes: include (i) a demonstration (or partial demonstration) of you preparing the submitted recipe; (ii)         presentation of the finished recipe dish (we want to see what the final dish looks like); and (iii) a brief explanation of what your cookbook will be about. Video must meet the following requirements:

° Must not exceed 3 minutes in length, 400MB max file size, and must be in one of the following file formats: mp4, mov, avi, mpg, 3gp, flv or webm
° Must not violate or infringe the rights of others including, without limitation, patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, publicity, privacy or other proprietary rights
° Must not be unlawful, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, tortious, or contain profane, explicit or otherwise objectionable content
° Must not contain any music or recording owned by a third party.

Videos and recipes submitted to the Contest will be subject to broadcast and/or publication on the Series, Series Website, Series social media, e.g., Facebook, Twitter and Vine (the "Series Social Media"), and Publisher's affiliated websites and social media (the "Publisher Websites and Social Media"). See "Entrant's Warranty & Grant of Rights and License" section below.

HOW TO WIN: Contest entries will be reviewed and judged in a series of initial rounds as set forth below. The top twenty (20) contestants will be interviewed by phone and judged on their answers. Ten (10) Semi-Finalists will be selected and asked to submit additional recipes for another round of judging. Then Five (5) Finalists will be selected and have the opportunity to move on and compete in a series of four (4) Studio Challenges to determine the Grand Prize Winner as set forth below.

Initial Judging Rounds

1. The Videos of all eligible entries will be reviewed by representatives of the Series ("RR Judges") and judged on the following criteria:
• culinary skill demonstrated (25%)
• appeal of recipe presented (25%)
• appeal of book idea (25%)
• overall appeal of video presentation (25%)

The thirty (30) contestants with the highest scores will move on to next round of judging. (In the event of a tie, Sponsor, in its sole discretion, will select a judge who has not previously reviewed either of the tying entries (the "Tie-breaker Judge"). The Tie-breaker Judge will judge the tying entries based on the above criteria and the contestant awarded the highest score will prevail.)

2. The Essay, Book Concept and Recipes of the Top 30 contestants will be reviewed by RR Judges and judged on the following criteria:
• Originality of cooking philosophy, book concept and/or recipes (33 1/3 %)
• Creativity of cooking philosophy, book concept and/or recipes (33 1/3 %)
• Clarity of cooking philosophy, book concept and/or recipes (33 1/3 %)

The twenty (20) contestants with the highest scores will move on to next round of judging. (In the event of a tie, a Tie-breaker Judge will judge the tying entries based on the above criteria and the contestant with the highest score will prevail.)

3. RR Judge(s) will conduct phone interviews with each of the Top 20 contestants sometime during the period February 10, 2014 – February 20, 2014. If contestant cannot be reached after multiple attempts to do so and/or is unavailable or unwilling to participate in the phone interview within 72 hours of the first attempt to reach contestant, contestant may be disqualified and replaced by the contestant with the next highest score, in Sponsor's sole discretion. Contestants will be judged on the following criteria:
• ability to communicate their cooking philosophy (33 1/3 %)
• ability to communicate their book concept (33 1/3 %)
• ability to communicate their personality and enthusiasm (33 1/3 %)

The ten (10) contestants with the highest scores will be notified on or about February 21, 2014 that they are eligible to move on to the Semi-Finalist round of judging. (In the event of a tie, the contestant with the highest score for personality and enthusiasm will prevail.)

Semi-Finalist Round

The ten (10) Semi-Finalists will be asked to submit a minimum of ten (10) additional full recipes plus ten (10) additional recipe titles by end of day March 10, 2014. Semi-Finalists will be directed to submit recipes/titles to a specific email address or in such other manner as Sponsor may direct. Failure to submit recipes/titles by deadline may lead to disqualification of contestant and possible replacement, in Sponsor's sole discretion. The Essay, Book Concept and all submitted Recipes (13 full recipes + 10 titles) will be reviewed by a panel of RR Judge(s), culinary expert(s) and publishing expert(s) and judged on the following criteria:
• Originality of cooking philosophy, book concept and/or recipes (33 1/3 %)
• Creativity of cooking philosophy, book concept and/or recipes (33 1/3 %)
• Clarity of cooking philosophy, book concept and/or recipes (33 1/3 %)

The five (5) Semi-Finalists with the highest scores will be notified on or about April 1, 2014 and will have the opportunity to compete in the Finalist Studio Challenges in New York City. (In the event of a tie, a Tie-breaker Judge will judge the tying entries based on the above criteria and the contestant with the highest score will prevail.)

Finalist Studio Challenges

The five (5) Finalists will compete in Studio Challenges that will take place at the Rachael Ray studio in New York City during various dates between April 6, 2014 and May 9, 2014. Finalists must be available and willing to travel to New York City multiple times during such period to compete in the Studio challenges. (Travel arrangements and accommodations will be made by Sponsor and basic costs of trip will be covered by Sponsor.) If contestant cannot be reached after multiple attempts to do so and/or is unable to commit to traveling and competing in the Studio Challenges within a 72 hour period from the first attempt to contact Finalist, Finalist may be disqualified and replaced by the contestant with the next highest score, in Sponsor's sole discretion. Unavailability or unwillingness to travel during any of the requested dates for Studio Challenges may lead to disqualification of contestant in Sponsor's sole discretion.

There will be a total of four (4) studio challenges during the period April 6 – May 9, 2014. After each challenge, the Finalist with the lowest score will be eliminated. Each challenge will be designed to test a specific skill or ability related to being a cookbook author. The rules and judging criteria for each challenge will be communicated to the Finalists prior to the start of each challenge. Judging criteria will be relevant to the skill or ability being tested in each challenge. Each challenge will be judged by one or more judges with expertise to judge the specific challenge presented, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The fourth and final Studio Challenge will take place during the week of May 5, 2014. The winner of this last challenge will be the potential Grand Prize Winner.

All of the Studio Challenges will be taped before a live studio audience for possible future broadcast on the Series. Prior to participating in Studio Challenges, Finalists must sign and execute Series Appearance Releases and eligibility, publicity and prize releases and other paperwork as more fully described below under the "Contest Paperwork" section. Sponsor reserves the right not to broadcast any or all of the Studio Challenges.

CONTESTANT & WINNER NOTIFICATION: Contestants will be contacted and/or notified via contact information provided with his/her entry. Such contact/notification may be by phone, email, video chat or in person and subject to recording for possible broadcast or publication on the Series, Series Website, Series Social Media and related media properties. By entering the Contest, entrants irrevocably grant permission to any and all such recordings for possible broadcast and/or other publication. Unless indicated otherwise, contestants will be required to respond to notification and other communications from Sponsor within 72 hours or contestant may be disqualified and/or prize may be forfeited, in sole discretion of Sponsor. In the event that a contestant is disqualified for any reason permitted under these Rules, Sponsor shall have the right, but not the obligation, to replace the contestant with the next highest scoring contestant and if applicable, provide such replacement contestant additional time to fulfill relevant contest requirements. Potential Winner will be announced before a live studio audience during a taping of the 4th and Final Studio Challenge as set forth above during the week of May 5, 2014. Sponsor may provide one or more of the other Contest Entities with the prizewinners' name, address and phone number for purposes of Prize fulfillment and delivery.

CONFIDENTIALITY:Contestants agree not to provide any interviews to or appear on any media outlet (including television, radio, print, online or social media) (together, the "Media Outlets") regarding the Contest and/or Series without the prior written consent of Sponsor during the Contest and until after May 31, 2014. Contestants further agree to keep confidential and not disclose, discuss, release, publish or post any information regarding the Contest and/or the Series (including but not limited to, any Contest results, the nature of Contest activities, the identities of any contestants/Semi-Finalists/ Finalists/Winner, or any personal experience with the Series) to any Media Outlet (including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) until after the fourth and final Studio Challenge is broadcast on the Series or after May 31, 2014, whichever is earlier.

PRIZE DETAILS & RESTRICTIONS: Total value of Grand Prize shall be no less than $20,000 (and may be greater subject to potential book royalties). Winner will be required to execute a publishing contract with Publisher to have cookbook published (the "Book Contract"), with standard terms and conditions that include, but are not limited to, Publisher's right not to publish the cookbook in the event it is determined that any content is plagiarized and/or not owned by Winner. After execution of the Book Contract, Winner will receive a $5000 cash advance towards potential cookbook sale royalties. The cash advance will be recoupable against the production budget (i.e., Winner will receive $5000 up front but will not receive any royalties unless and until Publisher has recovered all of its production costs from sales of the cookbook.) Additional profits from book, if any, are dependent upon potential book sales and are not guaranteed. Publisher shall retain final editorial control over the content and number of recipes in the cookbook, including the right to select the final title of the cookbook and the book format (i.e., hardcover or paperback). GE Kitchen Appliance Suite includes the following GE Profile™ appliances: (i) ENERGY STAR® 28.6 Cu. Ft. French-Door Ice & Water Refrigerator - Model # PFE29PSDSS (ARV $3,099); (ii) either a Double Oven Range with Convection Range - Model # PGS950SEFSS (ARV $3,299) or Electric Range - Model # PS950SS (ARV $2,899); and (iii) Dishwasher with Hidden Controls - Model # PDT750SSFSS (ARV $1,299). Total value of GE appliances ranges between $7,297 - $7,797, depending on whether Winner selects convection or electric range. Winner will be responsible for all costs and labor associated with installation and/or removal and disposal of current appliances, if any. GE will only deliver to a Winner's legal residence within (48) contiguous United States, the District of Columbia and Hawaii that is within a GE delivery zone. If a Winner resides in an area that is not within the GE delivery zone, Winner must agree to accept delivery at the location within the GE delivery zone that is closest to his/her residence and is solely responsible for delivery from that location to his/her residence. If the Winner resides in Alaska, cash equivalent value will be awardedfor the value of the appliances plus reasonable delivery cost in Alaska, in the form of a VISA® Pre-Paid Card. The card must be used in compliance with its stated terms and conditions. Contest Entities are not responsible for misplaced, stolen, lost or tampered with cards. Card will be delivered in approximately 6-8 weeks after notification. All aspects of Winner's appearance on the Series to promote the book shall be subject to the editorial control of Sponsor, including final content, length and dates of taping and broadcast. All aspects of Winner's feature in Every Day with Rachael Ray Magazine shall be subject to the editorial control of magazine publisher, including final content, length and date of publication. Failure to appear and/or cooperate in these promotions may result in forfeiture of such respective part of the Prize, in Sponsor's sole discretion. The trip to Cancun, Mexico awarded to all five (5) Finalists and valued at approximately $6930 each shall include the following: (i) a four (4) night stay for two adults in a junior suite (double-occupancy) at Secrets The Vine Cancun, Mexico; (ii) two (2) economy fare roundtrip airfares between the major U.S. gateway airport closest to the prizewinner's residence and the airport in Cancun, Mexico, provided airfare does not exceed $1,100 per person, inclusive of taxes (prizewinner will be responsible for any airfare expenses in excess of $1,100 per person, inclusive of taxes); (iii) meals; (iv) ground transportation between resort and airport; and (v) a culinary experience, including a private cooking lesson with an executive chef at the resort. Trip must be taken before 3/31/15 and be booked through Liberty Travel at least eight (8) weeks prior to departure. Travel subject to availability and blackout dates during peak travel periods (including but not limited to, December 21st – January 2nd, President's Week, Easter Week & Thanksgiving Weekend.) All travelers must be at least 18 and legal U.S. residents. Any incidental costs and/or expenses not specifically listed are not included and are the sole responsibility of the prizewinner, including but not limited to, transportation between residence and airport, travel insurance, gratuities, and any airport or other travel related taxes, fees or surcharges. Travelers are responsible for providing and ensuring validity of all necessary travel documents and requirements, including passports and visas. To redeem trip portion of Prize, prizewinners and travel guests must sign Liberty Travel's Waiver Release in addition to Contest Forms (defined below.) Sponsor shall film a video featuring each of the 5 Finalists and some element of their cooking and/or recipe to be posted on at a time and duration to be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion (the "Webisode(s)"). Sponsor shall retain editorial control and full ownership of each Webisode, including copyrights therein. Rachael Ray merchandise shall include the following cookware, bakeware and tableware: (i) 14 pc Hard Anodized Cookware Set - #89165 (ARV $300); (ii) 6 pc Bakeware Set - #55673 (ARV $100); (iii) Bubble & Brown 2 pc Set (orange) - #51764 (ARV $100); (iv) Large Bubble & Brown (orange) - #51870 (ARV $100); (v) Wood Tool Set - #53126 (ARV $60); (vi) Rise Tableware 16 pc Set (orange) - #58638 (ARV $140); (vii)Rise Set of 4 Pasta Bowls - #58719 (ARV $50); and (viii) Rise 10" Round Serving Bowl - #58639 (ARV $60). Prizewinners may receive a gift coupon redeemable for a specific prize. Gift cards and gift coupons are subject to certain restrictions (including but not limited to, expiration dates). Prize(s) include delivery (as specified herein), but do not include assembly or installation, if any is required. Prize(s) is non-transferable, non-assignable, non-exchangeable and not redeemable for cash. Any difference between the approximate retail value of any portion of Prize(s) and the actual final retail value will not be awarded. In the event a Prize or any part thereof becomes unavailable for any reason (through no fault of prizewinner), Sponsor reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of similar type or value. Contest Entities are not responsible for damage to the Prize sustained during shipping, product defects of any kind, and/or prizewinner's inability to accept or utilize any Prize.

PRIZE TAXES: All federal state, local and other tax liabilities arising from this Contest, including without limitation, winning any Prizes, are solely the respective responsibility of the Finalists and Winner.


ENTRANT WARRANTY & GRANT OF RIGHTS AND LICENSE: By entering the Contest, entrant represents and warrants that all materials and ideas submitted by entrant, including but not limited to the Video and the Recipes, (collectively, the "Entry Materials") are entrant's own original work created, developed, written or made by entrant and that submission of the Entry Materials and the rights granted to Sponsor herein do not and will not violate any law, regulation or any right of any third-party, including but not limited to rights of copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent, publicity and/or privacy. Entrant further represents and warrants that all information provided to Sponsor through the entry or otherwise in connection with the Contest is truthful and accurate. Entry Materials will not be returned. By submitting the Entry Materials, entrant grants to the Sponsor all ownership rights in and to the Video, including without limitation, the irrevocable right to use, display, post, broadcast, edit, modify and license it to others in all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity for any purpose whatsoever without compensation. Entrant further grants to Sponsor a perpetual, unlimited, free, non-exclusive right and license to use and post all other Entry Materials, including without limitation, the Recipes, on and in connection with the Series, Series Website, Series Social Media, and the Publisher Websites and Social Media, including the advertising and promotion of same.

GENERAL RULES & DISCLAIMERS: By entering, each entrant agrees to these Official Rules and the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use of Entrant agrees that Sponsor has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising in any way from the Contest and that all Sponsor's decisions are binding and final. Contest Entities are not responsible and assume no liability for incomplete, lost, late or illegible entries, entries that do not comply with the Official Rules, and/or technical, mechanical or electronic failures, hacking, tampering or problems of any kind, including without limitation, interruptions in or unavailability of services, delayed or filtered communications or transmissions, and errors, defects or malfunctions in computer, digital device or other equipment hardware or software. Contest Entities are not responsible and assume no liability for false, incorrect, changed, incomplete or illegible contact information. Contest Entities are not responsible and assume no liability for late, lost, damaged, intercepted, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify entrants, Semi-Finalist, Finalists or Winner. Contest Entities are not responsible and assume no liability for any errors and/or ambiguity in the Contest, any related advertising or promotion of this Contest and/or these Official Rules. In the event of any ambiguity or error in these Official Rules, Sponsor reserves the right to modify these Official Rules for clarification purposes or to correct any such ambiguity or error without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may disqualify any entrant from participation in or use of any or all portions of this Contest and/or the Prize, and refuse to award the Prize, if entrant engages in any conduct Sponsor deems to be improper, unfair or otherwise adverse to the operation of the Contest or detrimental to other entrants of the Contest. Such improper conduct includes, without limitation, falsifying personal information required during the entrant registration or Prize claim, violating any term or condition stated herein, intentionally trying to defraud, reverse engineer, disassemble or otherwise tamper with the computer programs in connection with this Contest. Entrants agree that Sponsor may void the Prize that entrant may have won as a result of such improper conduct and/or require its return, and that Sponsor shall have the right to pursue any an all additional remedies or recourse under the law. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned by reason of infection by computer virus, worms, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause which Sponsor, in its sole opinion believes could corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest and select a prizewinner from entries received prior to the action taken or in such other manner as Sponsor may deem fair and appropriate. Contest Entities assume no liability and are not responsible for any injury or damage to any entrants or to any person's computer or property related to or resulting from participating in any part of this Contest or downloading or uploading materials in connection with this Contest.

PUBLICITY RELEASE TERMS: Except where legally prohibited, Winner and each of the Finalists grant to the Contest Entities the right to use, reuse and license others to use his/her name, state of residence, photograph, and/or likeness, and any entry which has been submitted, for advertising, publicity, promotion and/or disclosure purposes in all media worldwide without limitation or additional compensation. Any of the Contest Entities may contact any of the Finalists in connection with any marketing or advertising opportunities.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY & INDEMNITY : By entering the Contest, entrant agrees to release, hold harmless and indemnify all of the Contest Entities, Facebook, each of their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, successors, assigns and all of the foregoing entities' respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, agents and shareholders (collectively, the "Released/Indemnified Parties"), from and against any and all claims, causes of action, demands, losses or liabilities of any nature whatsoever (including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death) which may result, directly or indirectly, in whole or part, from participation in the Contest, participation in any activity related to this Contest (including without limitation, any travel in connection with the Contest or Prize), or the awarding, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of the Prize or any part thereof. Entrant understands and agrees that all rights under Section 1542 of the California Civil Code and any similar state, federal or common law or principle, are hereby expressly waived. Entrant understands and acknowledges that said Section reads as follows: "1542. Certain claims not affected by general release. A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing the release, which if known by him must have materially affected his settlement with the debtor." IN NO EVENT WILL ANY OF THE RELEASED/INDEMNIFIED PARTIES BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST AND ANY OF ITS ACTIVITIES, UNLESS, AND TO THE EXTENT, SUCH LIMITATION OF LIABILITY IS PROHIBITED BY LAW IN A PARTICULAR JURISDICTION.

CONTEST PAPERWORK:Prior to competing in the Studio Challenges and redeeming any Prize(s), Finalists must sign and execute all appearance, liability, eligibility and publicity releases and/or affidavits required by Sponsor, as well as a W-9 tax form (together, the "Contest Forms"). Failure to return executed Contest Forms prior to the start of the Studio Challenges, may result in disqualification and/or forfeiture of Prize(s), in Sponsor's sole discretion. Third party prize providers may also require prizewinners to sign and execute additional release forms and other documentation.

GOVERNING LAW/BINDING ARBITRATION: This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and is void where prohibited. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Official Rules and/or this Contest shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the America Arbitration Association and conducted and enforced in New York, New York. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with this Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without giving effect to the conflict of laws rules thereof.

MISC.: Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and the respective skill of the entrants. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning.
