3 Yum Recipes for National Food on a Stick Day

Why does everyone love food on a stick? Is it a psychological comfort food harkening back to our caveman days? Who knows, but we know we like it because: you can walk and eat at the same time, it’s usually some kind of flavorful grilled meat, and you don’t need silverware. To celebrate National Food on a Stick Day, so we’re sharing three very different be-sticked foods.

Richard Blais’ Cinnamon Brioche “French Toast” Skewers

Start your day with Richard Blais’ French Toast on a Stick recipe. You don’t even need to buy skewers for this one because this recipe is made with a cinnamon stick. And it couldn’t be simpler to make.

Sunny’s Tater Dog on a Stick

For lunch, why not have your hot dog and fries in one delicious package? You don’t need skewers for this one either. Remember those extra disposable wooden chopsticks you get with Chinese takeout and stash in your utensil drawer? Well get those out and put them to good use! You simply skewer a hot dog with the chopstick, and then coat with a potato-pancake-like batter. Fry, and serve. Yum!

Mini Steak on a Stick with Horseradish Dipping Sauce

For dinner, why not have a sirloin skewers with a delicious horseradish dipping sauce? You don’t even need plates for this one, just grab the skewer and a bowl of sauce, and go for it!
