Naholyta “Joyce” Levasseur Brooklyn, NY

Naholyta is an MTA train conductor and is being credited with stopping a distraught Staten Island man and the father of a young boy from committing suicide. When Naholyta’s Staten Island Railway train pulled into the Bay Terrace station at 6 a.m. earlier this year, she noticed a man standing on the platform looking upset. She asked him what was wrong and he confided that he was going to jump in front of the next express train. Naholyta immediately offered reasons why he shouldn’t while alerting dispatchers to halt train traffic and call the police.
