"Proper pizza sauce is so easy because you don't cook it," Rach says. "This will make enough for four pies or two giant calzones. To use for calzone dipping, heat sauce in a small pot and simmer at a low bubble for 15 minutes."

Ingredients

  • One 15-ounce can fire-roasted or Italian diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • About 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO)
  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 5 to 6 leaves torn basil

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in food processor and process to smooth.
