Pound Cake French Toast with Sauted Apples

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 slices Sara Lee Pound Cake
  • For the Apples:
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
PREPARATION

Whisk together honey, sugar, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over pound cake and let it absorb while you cook the apples.

In a small skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter and add apples, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Saut until tender and reserve.

In another skillet, add remaining 2 tablespoons butter and add soaking pound cake slices. Cook until golden on both sides.

Serve pound cake French toast topped with apples.
