Preheat waffle maker to medium-low heat.
Make muffin mix according to package directions. Spray waffle maker with non-stick cooking spray. Pour 1/2 cup of mixture into each square in the waffle maker.
Bake 4 minutes. Turn off waffle maker and let cool for about two minutes.
For brunch style waffles: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh blueberries with 1/4 cup water and a few tablespoons of sugar. Heat until mixture thickens. Pour over waffles, top with whipped cream.
For dessert-style waffles: Saut two crisp, thinly sliced apples in a tablespoon of butter. Add a handful of walnuts, some raisins and 1 tablespoon brown sugar. Cook until sugar melts and apples soften slightly. Pour mixture over waffles.
