1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
5 to 6 drops blue food coloring (add more if you want it darker)
Place a large pot over medium-high heat with all of the ingredients. Put the lid on and wait until the kernels start popping.
As soon as they start popping, shake the pot continuously until the popping stops then immediately turn everything out onto a baking sheet. Once the popcorn is cool enough to touch (but still warm), toss the kernels with your hands to separate them. Serve cool.
