Before she started to hang around with Men in Trees, Anne Heche was surrounded by some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Johnny Depp, Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro. But she nearly let her nerves ruin her first experience with this acting legend. “I got sick to my stomach; I couldn’t believe I was working with him," she recalls about her first day with De Niro on the set of Wag the Dog. "I just wanted to throw up.”
She now looks back fondly on her time with De Niro whom she calls "the king of cuties" but it's her 5-year-old cutie, her son Homer, who she spends most of her time with now, including on the set of her hit ABC comedy. “He loves coming to the set. He goes, ‘Mommy I want to stay for 100 hours,’ and I said, ‘Well mommy isn’t going to work for 100 hours today, so we’re going to go home.’”
And when they get home for dinner and other meals, like most kids, Homer is a big fan of macaroni and cheese, pizza and chicken fingers. Anne admits she has tried some sneaky strategies to get her son to expand his menu a bit. "I have given him fish tacos and told him it was chicken," she says. "I don't do it often, but I did want to see if he liked it, and then I told him after that it was actually fish 'cuz he said, 'I don't like fish' and I said, 'Yes you did 'cuz you just ate it!'"
