Are women really better than men? ABC News' chief legal analyst Dan Abrams proclaims a resounding 'Yes!,' and explains why in his new book, Man Down: Proof Beyond a Reasonable Doubt that Woman are Better Cops, Drivers, Gamblers, Spies, World Leaders, Beer Tasters, Hedge Fund Managers, and Just about Everything Else. Dan details a few of the areas in which women are the stronger sex:
Giving Directions
"Women are better at giving directions," Dan states, "because guys tend to wing it. For example, someone will ask, 'How do you get here?' and a guy would say, 'Ah, you know, you go about .5 miles down there and you make a left.' A woman will stop and think about it, and she’ll say, 'You know what, there’s a McDonald’s - they use landmarks more and those directions are better and more effective than inaccurate senses of .6 or .5 or .3 [miles] or whatever it is."
Recklessness
Dan says that men are more reckless in their behavior than women, which might explain one "shocking" statistic. "Eighty two percent of lightning strikes are men compared to 18 percent of women," he tells Rachael. "Think about it: The guys are out there saying, 'You know what? I’m going to play that extra round of golf;' 'I know there’s a storm coming but I’ve got to finish that work I was doing on the roof with the antenna.' The bottom line is men tend to be more reckless and women are more thoughtful, more deliberate and more careful, and as a result, they don’t put themselves in harm's way."
Driving
Dan explains that women may drive you to your destination safer than men, but once you arrive, perhaps let the man do the parking. "Studies show that women are better drivers," he says, "which means their insurance rates are lower across the board than for men. But, there’s a recent study that shows men are actually better at parking."
Memory
"Women have better memories than men," Dan says. "There have been studies that show that women are better at not only remembering names but also remembering faces." Dan puts this theory to the test with a little "Battle of the Sexes" game between Rachael and her hubby John to see who can best remember a series of 10 photos. Watch the video above to see if the studies are correct!
