When NBC's The Sing-Off debuted in 2009, many asked how it would differ from the other reality singing competitions on the air. Its host, Nick Lachey, proudly explains how the program is unique. "We look at the show as an uplifting thing," he tells Rachael. "There are ways to get give people constructive criticism, but do it in a way that doesn't tear them down. We really make a point not to go for the cheap embarrassment thing that we've seen on some other shows."
