Janine Velez, who was a young mother, has never really known a life outside of the one that revolved around her son. Now that he's gone off to college, she's not quite sure how to cope. "I feel so alone. My son and I did everything together," Janine says. "I feel like I'm on a treadmill and I'm not going anywhere."
Rachael comes to Janine's rescue by setting her up with new friends from the audience and some fun activities for them to do together: movies, dinner, shopping and a wine tasting. At first Janine is skeptical and reluctant to embrace any new ideas. "I only do matinees, and I won't go shopping anymore," she says. But she soon warms up when she hears Rach's next idea, a girl's night in!
"Your married friends will love a night away from their husbands: sipping on drinks, eating Mexican food and wearing fuzzy slippers," Rachael says, wearing her own pair of bunny slippers to make her point. Rach likes to add some fun touches to make the girl's night extra special: from fuzzy slippers for your guests to a Polaroid camera, a cocktail book and even some aspirin as a "preventative" measure.
Not only has Rach set up Janine with some fun ways to treat her friends, she's also challenging Janine to do one thing a month on her own whether it's a movie, shopping, a spa day, a cooking class or even a vacation alone. Rachael challenges Janine to discover new things in an effort to rediscover herself. Rach tries to ease Janine into the idea of spending a little more time alone. "I love going to movies alone; taking a wrong turn while driving and getting lost, it helps you become more comfortable with yourself," she says. After hearing all of Rachael's ideas, Janine (finally) concedes: "That's perfect, I love it, thank you Rachael!"
