Talk about the show

You've laughed and cried with Cynthia Nixon and her Sex and the City co-stars for more than a decade as they navigated through countless crushes, breakups, tender moments of friendship and outrageous scenarios. Have their off-screen lives been as dramatic? "Oh, we're not nearly that interesting!" Cynthia jokes, telling Rachael they were often shocked by their characters' exploits. "We would get the scripts and we would say, 'Are we really going to say this? Are we really allowed to talk about this?'"

What didn't shock Cynthia was the box office bonanza their first feature film turned into last year as women across the globe showed up in droves. "We're not a special interest group; we're more than half of the population. You make a movie that we want to see and we'll show up!" she says about Sex and the City: The Movie. All of the women are on board to shoot a sequel, so Rachael wants to know if Cynthia has her own vision for it. "It's just time for us to have a romp," she says. "I would do something crazy - we're going to solve a mystery! I think the four of us on the move .... and off on an adventure. Because we're married, we've got kids, you know, and I think you've got to get us on a caper."

In the meantime, the Emmy®, Grammy® and Tony®-winner is back on the New York stage in Distracted, her 36th play. In it, Cynthia portrays a mother who discovers her son may have attention deficit disorder. "It has some painful moments, but if I do say so myself, it is a laugh riot," Cynthia says. She won't have to wait for the Tony Awards to vie for a new prize, because Rachael has three customized accolades for the popular star: best portrayal of a redhead by a non-redhead, best taxi tipper, and a special award from her SATC husband, David Eigenberg, who honors her for having the best breath before a love scene!
