The combination of tough economic times and the Internet has given rise to a new phenomenon among those looking to reverse the aging process: do-it-yourself plastic surgery. "Unfortunately, a lot of people are taking matters into their own hands," says Dr. Anthony Youn. "And what we're finding is that people have pretty easy access to inject-able treatments that you can buy from other countries, other countries that aren't as developed and they don't have quite the safety mechanisms that we have in the United States."

Dr. Youn adds that if you're having an adverse reaction to something you've injected, you ought to seek medical treatment right away. "Most big emergency room centers have plastic surgeons on call who can take care of your problem," he explains. "The earlier you attack it, typically the better."
