When Rachael introduces this celebrity, she describes him as "the complete package ... He cleans, he sings, he is a fabulous actor, he's pretty easy on the eye and a nice guy!" But Dennis Quaid, who's now starring in Vantage Point, recently endured a medical nightmare when his newborn twins were hospitalized. "It's something I wouldn't wish on anybody," Dennis tells Rachael. "Anybody who's a parent could understand."
Now that they're doing well, he's ready to start spoiling them! "They're doing great. He's an animal, he makes every sound known to man ... and my daughter, she's just a little princess," Dennis says. "I promised her a pony already and anything else that she wants."
He credits his fans with helping him and his wife, Kimberly, endure the scare. "We really had so many thoughts and prayers from so many people," Dennis says. "We felt them and really feel that it had a lot to do with their recovery." Now he wants to help others avoid this type of trauma. "So many mistakes happen in hospitals every day, which is something my wife and I are sort of taking up to make the public aware of," he explains. "In the coming months we'll be starting a foundation just about that." (They don't have a website yet -- but check back soon for more details!)
Dennis is also busy with his film career, including the new release Vantage Point which has the star in a critical role. "I play a secret service agent," he says proudly. "It's a childhood dream thing. I'm protecting the president!" He'll also appear alongside Juno star Ellen Page in the family drama Smart People this spring. "I think she's the next Meryl Streep," he says. "She can do anything."
And he should know -- after 30 years in the business Dennis has been in everything from suspense thrillers to comedies. "It keeps it interesting for me," he says. "Before I was an actor I was never able to keep a job for more than three months. I would either get bored and quit or find a way to get fired. Movies are great because they last about three months and they say, 'great job' and you go on to the next thing."
