Glamour's Winter Dos & Don'ts
Having trouble rocking this winter's trendy capes, colored tights or lace? Glamour Contributing Style Editor Tracey Lomrantz brings her magazine's "dos and don'ts" column to life to show you how to wear these looks in style!
Lace: Lace can definitely go wrong, Tracey says, while suggesting wearing the fabric in moderation. Try mixing subtle patterns in different colors for an elegant look. "Go for a nude or beige color on top and black on bottom, which will keep things looking really sleek."
Capes: "The main thing you want to avoid is looking like you picked a blanket up off your couch, wrapped it around yourself and went outside," she explains. Instead, try one that is not too long. "If you get something that hits at your hip or even just a little bit below, that's going to create a really flattering silhouette." Complete the look with skinny jeans, leggings or a slim pencil skirt to balance your figure.
Colored Tights: Bright tights can make or break an outfit, so keep the rest of your outfit simple when wearing purple, red or green tights. Not sure which colors to mix? Tracey has a strategy to help: "Look at a color wheel. Any two things that are close together are always going to look good."
