Tough Love's Steven Ward
She's 34, single, and wonders if she's intimidating to potential suitors, so VH1's Tough Love master matchmakers Steven Ward and his mother JoAnn and three single guys step in to tell her the truth about what's holding her back from finding love. After viewing a videotape of Jolie speaking to Steven and JoAnn about her problem, Brandon, 29, David, 30 and Carlos, 37, reveal that they don't find Jolie intimidating, but instead unapproachable. "She's a good-looking woman, but she needs to smile," Carlos points out. "She has this look on her face like she's not happy the whole time and she's not interested. I wouldn't approach her just because she's not even smiling - I don't want to be a part of that."
Steven adds that the guys actually considered Jolie's looks and financial stability as assets, not something to be intimidated by. "All of you women who are successful corporate women and think you intimidate men, let me set you straight," Steve states. "You're not intimidating anybody unless you're wielding an axe, knife or gun. You're just not doing anything to make them want to approach you."
Though the guys' comments seem a bit harsh at first, Jolie understands that it's all a learning experience that will benefit her in the future. "It makes me think that perhaps I need to work on some things," Jolie admits, "but by the same token, I am very warm and fuzzy ... but I need to smile a little bit more, definitely when I initially meet people."
Steven sums up what Jolie and any single person should ask themselves when it comes to relationships. "At the end of the day," he says, "what can I be doing to increase my chances or likelihood of success, at whatever I apply myself to? If people are willing to take that approach when it comes to their love life, then they'll find that they are far more likely to connect with somebody in a very positive way."
