Get Ready for Summer: Cellulite Solutions?
Does the thought of slipping into a bathing suit have you dreading summer? Dr. Youn is back to reveal four of the hottest secrets to getting your dream beach body!
Wellbox Lipomassage
Dr. Youn explains that this at-home treatment claims to actually tighten and smooth the buttocks by combining micro-pulsations with a mechanical massage. "It's based off real science," he says. "This is very similar to what we’re doing in my office to treat cellulite and tighten up the thighs and buttocks." Dr. Youn adds that the machine costs about $1,500, but will hopefully last you for years and years. "If you do similar treatments at a plastic surgeon's office like mine, you’re going to spend a lot more than that as the years go on."
Spray-on skin tightener
"There’s this product and it’s not even out," Dr Youn says. "It is basically a liquid form similar to Retin-A and it’s specially formulated; it’s a spray form and you can actually spray it onto your arms, you can spray it on your tummy, wherever technically where you want to tighten up." Dr. Youn points out that people should gauge their expectations accordingly when using such minimally invasive treatments. "It's not going to take your grandma bat wings and turn them into Michelle Obama arms," he says. "But this can work to definitely tighten up the skin and give you that sensation of tightness."
Dermaglide Microdermabrasion System
Baking soda isn't just for keeping your fridge smelling fresh! "Some people believe it has anti-bacterial properties," Dr. Youn says, "and the crystals are actually fine enough that they can create good microdermabrasion." He states that the Dermaglide Microdermabrasion System is the first system to use all natural baking soda crystals. "If you apply it to the chest," he claims, "you can actually smooth the skin of the breasts, you can improve fine cleavage lines and you can even decrease that dreaded chest acne some people get; you can use it anywhere that you want to smooth out and tighten." Starting at $80 a treatment, Dr. Youn recommends maybe one treatment every other week until you’re happy with how things look and then one a month or every other month.
Syneron LipoLite laser
Dr. Youn shows Rachael the newest technology in liposuction, the Syneron LipoLite laser. "This is still surgery," he explains, "but we make a little incision and we can actually use the laser energy to heat up fat - it coagulates blood vessels, decreases bleeding, decrease pain, decreases downtime and some surgeons believe it can help to tighten up the skin." Dr. Youn says the procedure is not recommended when a lot of lipo is required, and adds, "But for those areas under the chin, sometimes the arms, for those small areas it can really work nicely and help to tighten up the skin."
