"Going Too Far?" with Whoopi Goldberg
As co-hosts of The View, Whoopi Goldberg and Elisabeth Hasselbeck spent months arguing passionately about the campaign season that captured the nation's attention. But with the historic election over, Rachael wants to know what the ladies will talk about now. "It's really about the things that matter to you," Whoopi explains. "That's what we get passionate about. Sometimes it's politics, but sometimes it's a belief in one ideal versus another ideal -- as long as the discussion is still welcome, we can get passionate ... No where else do you get the discussions that we were able to have."
To make Whoopi feel at home on Rachael's set, life-size cutouts of Barbara and Elisabeth join them at the kitchen table! While The View has their "hot topics," Rachael invites the audience and her guests to weigh in on controversial issues in a segment called "Going Too Far." Today's issue? The so-called "fat tax," which would impose a health insurance surcharge on workers who are considered obese; Alabama will be implementing it for their state employees in 2010. Watch the video above to see the debate, and let us know what you think about the "fat tax" on the message boards!
When it comes to food, Whoopi admits that although she can be rather picky sometimes (no pulp in her orange juice, no milk on her cereal), she doesn't mess around at Thanksgiving. "This is the one place where I do shine," Whoopi tells Rachael. "I start my turkey at 9 o'clock at night [the night before Thanksgiving] ... I cook him all night long so that when I get up, the smell of the turkey is in the house."
Web exclusive! Whoopi's Turkey Prep:
