A Holiday Family Reunion
The holidays are a time for getting together for family, but for Linda, it's only been a distant dream for most of her life. "The last time I saw my sister was 27 years ago," says the 38-year-old. When Linda was 2, she and her sister Michelle were separated and placed in a foster homes, and after Linda was officially adopted at age 9 by her foster parents, the adoption records were sealed. "At one point I never thought I'd see her again," she tearfully recalls. But then, one day Linda received a Facebook message from Michelle Thomas, who claimed she was her long lost sister. "As soon as I saw her picture I knew," smiles Linda. "That was my sister! I never thought in a million years she would find me, but she did - and I'm happy."
But finding each other proved to be only half of the struggle to reunite these sisters. Though Linda learned from Michelle that she had even more family to meet, the actually prospect of getting together in Alabama seemed like a long shot. "I would love to see my sister," Linda says, "but it's financially difficult right now."
