Design guru Todd Oldham stops by with some great tips on making budget-friendly floral arrangements for the holidays. You'll be amazed how you'll be able to turn everyday items from around the house into something fabulous!

General floral arrangement tips:

• Cut the stems under running water. It will help extend the life of the flowers up to a week longer!

• Make an arrangement feel like Christmas without having it be over-the-top by going tonal: Use all one color, add some Christmas bulbs. It makes it very festive!

Colander Flower Arrangement: Soak a block of Oasis floral foam in water, wrap it in tinfoil, leaving the top uncovered. Stick it in the colander and start positioning your flowers by wiggling them into the foam. Water the foam every four or five days, or when it feels dry.

Cheese Grater Arrangement: Use a tin can with one end taken completely off as the main container and set the grater right over it. Make a bouquet of your favorite flowers and wrap a pipe cleaner around it to keep it together -- they don't choke the stems and you won't cut yourself.

Floral Wreath: Use non-traditional items like Jell-O molds or bundt pans for a floral wreath. Concentric color patterns make an elegant arrangement.

A Touch of Christmas: Hold flowers in place by using Christmas bulbs instead of flower pebbles or wrap the stems of your arrangement with a bulb garland.

Additional ideas you can use all year long:

Personalize an old glass vase by printing out a photo and taping it to the vase with double-stick tape.

Dress up a regular tin can by wrapping it with leftover gift wrap and securing it with double-stick tape.

Recycle glass containers by using them as vases; try mixing whites and greens together.
