Huey Lewis
"So many great moments of my life are to your music!" Rachael says sweetly, as Grammy®-winner Huey Lewis joins her at the kitchen table to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future. Huey Lewis and the News enjoyed huge hits from that 1980s movie, but were initially not sure they would be part of the Michael J. Fox time-travel flick. "I didn't know how to write for film!" Huey jokes. It all worked out, and Huey even snagged a small part in the movie, something he will only occasionally pursue. "Fortunately I don't have to make my living as an actor."
Rachael asks if he'll share more stories about his classic songs and he recalls the inspiration for "I Want a New Drug", which he wrote while late for a meeting with his music publisher. "Needless to say it was written the night after!"
Huey Lewis and the News turned to Memphis for inspiration for their new album Soulville, so Rachael asks if he'll give a sample of the blues! Click on the video for Huey's impromptu kitchen-table harmonica jam!
