We all try to avoid having sore feet, bad breath or body odor, but when your business involves wearing high heels all day or filming love scenes with your coworkers, you really need to kick it up a notch! In our first-ever Human Lab: Soap Star Edition, three of daytime's hottest stars are putting on their lab coats and testing products that claim to give them the comfort, fresh breath and pleasant scent to get them through their dramatic -- and steamy -- work schedule.
Insolia High Heel Inserts
Rebecca Budig of All My Children needs a product to relieve the pain of wearing high heels every day on set. "Greenlee was born in heels," says Rebecca, who admits to sharing her character's love of high heels. However, by the end of the day her feet are paying the price. "In a perfect world," she says, "it would be nice to have something to put in my shoe to soften the blow." Rachael sends her Insolia High Heel Inserts, which claim to shift the body's weight and lessen strain on feet, legs and back.
After spending a day with the inserts, Rebecca says she notices a difference. "It does feel like my weight is distributed differently," she says. "Normally, I feel the pressure in my toes and that's where I get the pain and I actually don't feel it in my toes." Back in the studio, Rebecca confesses, "The only drawback is that my feet sweat a little more -- but the tradeoff is worth it."
Dissolving Paper Soap
Nadia Bjorlin of Days of Our Lives loves a week off every now and then from her grueling taping schedule, but she admits she misses the pampering she gets on set. "You can basically roll out of bed in the morning," she says, "get in your car, come to work and have somebody blow dry your hair, put on makeup and give you fabulous clothes to wear, and you basically don't have to think." Nadia quickly agrees to try a product that seems tailor-made for her life on the road -- Dissolving Paper Soap, which claims to transform into a sudsy lather leaving you clean and smelling pleasantly fragrant. "Paper soap for a soap star, how fitting!" she jokes.
After testing the product, Nadia reports, "It smells really nice, like rose water." She says that she would definitely bring it on the road with her as an alternative to liquid soap. "One of the most annoying things is when liquids spill over all your clothes and ruin your luggage," Nadia says.
SmartMouth Mouthwash
John-Paul Lavoisier's character on One Life to Live definitely has a way with the women. "Yes, I've kissed a lot of people on this show," he says with a smile. "About a dozen." John-Paul explains that keeping fresh breath is important, so Rachael sets him up with SmartMouth Mouthwash, which claims to freshen breath for 24 hours -- and may help him avoid a bad rap for bad breath with his leading ladies.
John-Paul says that SmartMouth left his breath smelling fresh, and came with an added bonus. "It's very sanitary because it's a pump, so you can share it," he says. Rachael decides to put the mouthwash to the ultimate test, so she invites John-Paul's co-star Farah Fath to the kitchen to give him a hot kiss. What did she think of his breath? "I thought it was pretty flawless!" she smiles.
