"I Can't Stand My Lips"

Talk about the show

Does your smile make you want to frown? Do your lips disappoint? If you think your lips are too thin, too pale or too wrinkled, there's probably a beauty trick that can spare you from going under the knife to get the look you want. Three viewers turn to Mally Roncal for help, and she's sharing her tips here!

Is there something you can't stand about your appearance? Let us know and you could be on the show, too!

Thin Lips

Since she started wearing makeup in high school, Ann, 44, has been disappointed with her lips. "They're very thin," she says. "If I don't put anything on to help them along, I think that they just blend into my face." She's tried different methods to plump them up, and thinks fuller lips would make a big difference in her life. "It would give me a more professional appearance and it would definitely help in my confidence and in my business."

Mally says Ann can start by using a lip liner in the same shade as her lips to extend her lip in a natural way. Then fill the entire lip with a pink lip gloss. "You want to do something with just a little bit of shimmer, and what that's going to do is light is going to reflect and make it look fuller, fuller, fuller." You can accentuate the look by adding a little more shine with Mally's Light Wand on the bow of the lip and just under the center near the bottom.

Wrinkled Lips

"I am obsessed with covering up the wrinkles around my lips," says Lena, 46. "I try to cover my wrinkles with foundation, some powder, whatever I can think of, but everybody around me doesn't like it. My daughter tells me that I put on too much lip liner." She says her lips make her feel unattractive and she wishes she could look in the mirror and say, "Wow. I look great!"

Mally says Lena could be making the problem worse by using so much foundation, which can enhance the wrinkles if the product sinks into the lines. She suggests first covering the skin around her lips with her Perfect Prep Poreless Primer. "A primer is an invisible sort of barrier and it fills in fine lines and wrinkles and kind of forms a little seal," Mally says. She then applies a natural lip liner, and shades Lena's lips with the Mally Lip Illusion lipstick, which includes a highlight for the center of the lips. Mally tops it off with lip gloss, and a bit of caution: "If you are going to use a lip gloss, make sure that you don't use the lip gloss all the way to the edge ... so it doesn't travel and bother the lip line."

"There's No Color to My Lips"

"It looks like I have no lips," says Prudence, 45, who was considering getting a tattoo on her pale lips so they would always have color. As this mom prepares for her daughter's wedding, she is desperate for a new look. Mally reassures Prudence that this is a common complaint. "As we age, we do tend to lose a lot of color in our lips," she says, and recommends a lip stain instead of lipstick for long-lasting color. "There's more pigment. It sticks to the lips." For the full look, start by lining your lips and filling them in with a natural toned lip liner, and then apply the lip tint. To choose the best color for your lips, pull down your bottom lip and match the stain to that color.
