Before Jodie Foster rocks out playing "Guitar Hero," the two-time Oscar winner and two-time mom shares her parenting secrets. Jodie, who recently starred in the family adventure movie Nim's Island, took a trip to Iceland with her kids. But this "back-to-nature" vacation came with a catch -- no electronics allowed.
"It's such a great lesson, whether you go to Iceland or not," says Rachael, suggesting that we all could benefit from even a weekend of gadget-free adventures.
Jodie also has a strategy for getting her kids, who can be picky eaters, to try new foods. "You know what we'll do sometimes? A new food of the day," she says. "If they hate it, they can spit it out."
Rachael loves both of these ideas and hopes more families will give them a shot -- so she's putting out two challenges to get you started!
You don't need to go as far as Iceland -- just pledge to spend some time with no electronics or battery-powered games. Then, get creative! Play charades, take a hike, and spend time with loved ones ... the planet will thank you too.
