These days, many people are looking for budget ideas to decorate their home or apartment, but did you know you could also find great décor for free? John's Tips:

• "If you do your research online, you can find the best neighborhoods in which to find free stuff. Every city has a blog for that."

• "Pick a neighborhood that has similarly sized-dwellings to the one you're looking to decorate — the discarded items may fit better."

• "It's illegal to throw away paint, so many cities have a depository or a recycling program. In New York City, it's called WasteMatch.org. It's almost like an online dating site but for people who need paint." [Note: Wastematch.org is normally meant for larger projects, while the NYC Stuff Exchange is meant for most residents and smaller scale items.]
