Rising at 3 A.M. to host the CBS Early Show is no easy feat, but Julie Chen makes it look so easy -- and glamorous! She says "it takes a village" to get her looking as beautiful as she does, but there's no doubt that her natural looks and beauty secrets have a lot to do with it. She's sitting down with Rachael and passing along those tidbits as well as the contents of her "survival kit" makeup bag.
Julie's makeup bag is long and tubular so it holds a lot and fits in practically any handbag.
To transition from day to night, Julie uses moisturizing lip gloss with a slight tint.
The key item is powder, especially for blotting the "T-zone" -- the area around the nose and forehead -- that tends to get oily throughout the day.
Hand cream is essential, especially in the winter months. Julie calls it "key-to-life." To lock the moisturizer in, Julie puts on moisturizing gloves (found in any drug store). They are also great for preserving a manicure and avoiding runs and rips when putting on hose. Julie swears by them, even though she says her husband calls her "Minnie Mouse" when she wears them.
For getting "pills" off of sweaters, use a regular disposable razor and give it a quick shave! Things will be smooth in no time.
She's got cooking tips as well!
Julie turns a 99-cent package of ramen into a hearty, gourmet bowl of noodles by adding a hard-boiled egg, scallions and shredded chicken.
