Talk about the show

Kids everywhere recognize Keke Palmer as the star of Nickelodeon's hit show True Jackson, VP, but parents may know her best from the film Akeelah and the Bee. Keke tells Rachael what it was like playing a girl from a working class family who makes it all the way to the National Spelling Bee. "The message was really good, that's why I wanted to be a part of it," she explains. "You don't have to be a product of where you're from, you don't have to believe just what you see -- you can be whoever you want to be, whatever you put your mind to you can do it. You believe in yourself, then everyone else will too."

It's a theme that the 15-year-old sees reflected in the election of President Barack Obama, whose inauguration she attended. "I was so happy, oh my gosh!" she tells Rachael. "It was crazy because I remember seeing Barack Obama at the NAACP awards a couple years back and he was still working in Chicago. He had written a book and I was like, 'Oh that's cool, he's a great guy' and I just said hi quickly. I never thought he would be running for president!"

"Neither did he!" Rachael adds.
